The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
(Muhammad), read in the name of your Lord who created (all things). 1 Has created man from a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood). 2 Read, and your Lord only is the Most Beneficent, 3 Who taught by the pen - 4 Taught man that which he knew not. 5 Nay! man is most surely inordinate, 6 As he bethinkest himself selfsufficient. 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the returning. 8 What do you think? Have you seen he who forbids 9 A slave when he prayeth? 10 Did you consider: what if he is on the Right Way, 11 or bade to godfearing -- 12 What do you think? Have you seen if he belies and turns away, 13 Is he then unaware that Allah seeth? 14 And yet indeed if he does not desist We shall drag him by the forelock, 15 the lying, rebellious forehead! 16 So let him now call his gang! 17 and We too will call the stern and angry keepers of hell. 18 No, not at all. Never obey him. But prostrate yourself and become nigh (to your Lord). ۩ 19
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
