The assembly of Pharaoh's nation said: 'This man is a wellversed sorcerer 109 "He wants to get you out of your land, so what do you advise?" 110 They answered: "Let him and his brother wait awhile, and send unto all cities heralds 111 "To bring all the wise magicians to you." 112 The magicians came to the Pharaoh and said: "Is there reward for us if we succeed?" 113 He said: Yes, and you shall certainly be of those who are near (to me). 114 They said: "O Musa (Moses)! Either you throw (first), or shall we have the (first) throw?" 115 "You cast it first," answered Moses. When they cast their spell, they bewitched the eyes of the people and petrified them by conjuring up a great charm. 116 And We inspired Moses (saying): Throw thy staff! And lo! it swallowed up their lying show. 117 ۞ Thus the truth prevailed and what they had produced came to nothing: 118 Thus there and then they were vanquished and overthrown, humiliated. 119 And the sorcerers prostrated themselves 120 Crying: We believe in the Lord of the Worlds, 121 the Lord of Moses and Aaron' 122 Fir'aun (Pharaoh) said: "You have believed in him [Musa (Moses)] before I give you permission. Surely, this is a plot which you have plotted in the city to drive out its people, but you shall come to know. 123 I will cut off your hands and feet on the alternate sides and crucify you all." 124 They said: Lo! We are about to return unto our Lord! 125 You would punish us only because we believed in the signs of our Lord when they were shown to us. Our Lord, pour patience upon us, and cause us to die in a state of submission to You." 126
