The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the Star when it setteth, 1 Your companion [Muhammad] has not strayed, nor has he erred, 2 Nor does he speak from [his own] inclination. 3 It is naught but revelation that is revealed, 4 Which one of mighty powers hath taught him, 5 by the great mighty one (Gabriel), 6 When he was on the uppermost horizon. 7 Then he drew nigh and came down 8 until he was but two bow-lengths away, or even nearer. 9 So did (Allah) convey the Inspiration to His slave [Muhammad SAW through Jibrael (Gabriel)]. 10 The heart lied not (in seeing) what it saw. 11 Will you dispute with him what he saw? 12 He certainly saw him (Gabriel) during his other ascent 13 Near Sidrat-ul-Muntaha [lote-tree of the utmost boundary (beyond which none can pass)], 14 Near which is the garden, the place to be resorted to. 15 when there covered the Lote-Tree that which covered; 16 The sight (of Prophet Muhammad SAW) turned not aside (right or left), nor it transgressed beyond (the) limit (ordained for it). 17 Indeed he (Muhammad SAW) did see, of the Greatest Signs, of his Lord (Allah). 18 HAVE YOU, then, ever considered [what you are worshipping in] Al-Lat and Al-Uzza, 19 and, another, the third manat? 20 What, have you males, and He females? 21 This indeed is an unjust division! 22 These are nothing but names that you and your forefathers have invented, for which Allah has sent down no authority. They are merely following their conjectures and their carnal desires although guidance has come to them from their Lord. 23 Can the human being have whatever he wishes? 24 But it is to Allah that the End and the Beginning (of all things) belong. 25
