A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ Alif. Lam. Mim. 1 This is a Book revealed to you. Let there be no impediment in your heart about it. (It has been revealed to you) that you may thereby warn [the unbelievers], that it may be a reminder to the believers. 2 Follow what has been sent down to you by your Lord and do not follow any protector other than Him. How seldom you take heed. 3 And how many cities have We destroyed, and Our punishment came to them at night or while they were sleeping at noon. 4 And when Our punishment overtook them they had nothing to say except crying out: "We have indeed been sinners." 5 So We shall question those unto whom a Message was sent, and We shall question the Envoys, 6 and thereupon We shall most certainly reveal unto them Our knowledge [of their doings]: for never have We been absent [from them]. 7 And true will be the weighing on that Day; and those whose weight [of good deeds] is heavy in the balance - it is they, they who shall attain to a happy state; 8 And those whose scales are light are the people who put themselves to ruin – the recompense of the injustice they used to do to Our signs. 9 And surely, We gave you authority on the earth and appointed for you therein provisions (for your life). Little thanks do you give. 10
