Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 when he asked his father and his people, "What is that which you worship?" 70 They said, 'We serve idols, and continue cleaving to them. 71 He said: Do they hear you when ye cry? 72 Or, benefit they you or hurt they you? 73 They said, 'Nay, but we found our fathers so doing.' 74 He said, “Do you see these (the idols) whom you worship?” 75 You and your ancient forefathers? 76 They are all enemies to me; all, except the Lord of the Universe 77 He created me and He will guide me. 78 “And the One Who feeds me and gives me to drink.” 79 "And when I am ill, it is He who cures me. 80 "And Who will cause me to die, and then will bring me to life (again); 81 It is He whom I expect to forgive my sins on the Day of Judgment. 82 "O my Sustainer! Endow me with the ability to judge [between right and wrong,] and make me one with the righteous, 83 “And give me proper fame among the succeeding generations.” 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Delight, 85 and forgive my father; for he is one of the misguided; 86 and do not disgrace me on the Day when all people are resurrected, 87 The day when neither wealth nor children will be of any avail 88 and when he alone will be saved who comes to God with a sound heart." 89 When Paradise shall be brought near to the God-fearing 90 And Hell made visible to those who had gone astray. 91 and they will be asked: "Where are the gods that you worshipped 92 apart from God? Do they help you or help themselves?' 93 Then they shall be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 And the whole hosts of Iblis (Satan) together. 95 Disputing among themselves they will say: 96 "By God, we were most obviously astray 97 In equating you with the Lord of all the worlds; 98 And none led us astray except the culprits. 99 Now we have no intercessors, 100 nor do we have a truly sincere friend. 101 “So if only were we to go back, in order to become Muslims!” 102 Verily herein is a sign, but most of them are not believers. 103 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 104
