Al-Dukhaan 2 of 3
and We saved the Children of Israel from a humiliating punishment 30 from Pharaoh; surely he was a high One, of the prodigals; 31 We knowingly exalted them (i.e., the Children of Israel) above other peoples of the world 32 and sent them revelations of which some were a clear trial for them. 33 These men do say, 34 "There is no dying for us but once; and we shall not be raised again. 35 Bring then our fathers if ye say so. 36 Are they better, or the folk of Tubb'a and those before them? We destroyed them, for surely they were guilty. 37 We have not created the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them, out of play. 38 none of this have We created without [an inner] truth: but most of them understand it not. 39 The Day of Final Decision is the appointed time for all; 40 The Day when no protector can avail his client in aught, and no help can they receive, 41 except those to whom Allah shows mercy. He is the Most Mighty, the Most Compassionate. 42

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
