The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
A caller supplicated about a punishment to fall on 1 to those who deny the truth. No power can hinder God 2 [since it will come] from God, unto whom there are many ways of ascent: 3 The angels and the spirit ascend unto him in a Day the measure whereof is (as) fifty thousand years: 4 So be patient with gracious patience. 5 They see it [the Day of Judgement] to be far off, 6 But We see it (quite) near. 7 On that Day the heaven shall become like molten copper, 8 And the mountains will be like flakes of wool, 9 And not a friend shall ask a friend, 10 Though they will be given sight of them. The guilty man will long to be able to ransom himself from the punishment of that day at the price of his children 11 And his wife and his brother 12 his kinsmen who gave him refuge (from hardship) 13 And all who are on the earth; so that this might deliver him. 14 By no means! It will be the fierce flame 15 Eager to roast; 16 It shall call him who turneth back and backslideth. 17 and amassed wealth and hoarded it. 18 ۞ Surely man was created fretful, 19 Irritable (discontented) when evil touches him; 20 but when good comes upon him, he is grudging 21 except those that pray, 22 Those who are constant in their prayer 23 In whose wealth a due share is included 24 For the needy and those dispossessed, 25 And those who testify to the Day of Requital. 26 And those who fear the torment of their Lord, 27 Verily! The torment of their Lord is that before which none can feel secure, 28 and those who guard their private parts, 29 Except in the case of their wives or those whom their right hands possess-- for these surely are not to be blamed, 30 but any who seeks to go beyond that, it is indeed they who are the transgressors, 31 (Those) who keep their trusts and their covenant, 32 And those who stand firm in their testimonies. 33 And those who [carefully] maintain their prayer: 34 Such will be the honoured ones in the Gardens (of Bliss). 35
