The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sunlight is rolled up. 1 when the stars are thrown down, 2 and when the mountains are made to vanish, 3 when the ten-months pregnant camels shall be abandoned, 4 And when the wild animals are made to go forth, 5 And when the seas are filled with flame 6 when the souls shall be coupled, 7 And when the girl-child that was buried alive is asked 8 for what offence was she killed? 9 when the scrolls are unrolled, 10 And when the sky is torn away, 11 and when Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when the Garden shall be brought nigh, 13 (Then) every person will know what he has brought (of good and evil). 14 I swear by the receding stars, 15 Moving swiftly and hiding themselves, 16 And by the night as it closes in 17 and the morning when it extends, 18 behold, this [divine writ] is indeed the [inspired] word of a noble apostle, 19 The processor of strength, having an honorable place with the Lord of the Dominion, 20 obeyed, moreover trusty. 21 And your comrade is not mad. 22 And of a truth he saw himself on the clear horizon. 23 And this Prophet is not miserly upon the hidden. (Allah gave the knowledge of the hidden to the Holy Prophet – peace and blessings be upon him.) 24 nor is it a word of an accursed Satan. 25 Then where are you going? 26 This [message] is no less than a reminder to all mankind 27 (With profit) to whoever among you wills to go straight: 28 And what will you wish, except if Allah wills – the Lord of the Creation. 29
