The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder, 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 and when the earth is leveled, 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 O Man! Thou art labouring unto thy Lord laboriously, and thou shalt encounter Him. 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 He will cry out for destruction 11 And be thrown to scorching fire. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 But he will indeed! His Lord was ever watching him. 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 by the night and what it covers, 17 And by the moon when it is at the full, 18 Ye shall surely travel from stage to stage. 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 And, when the Qur'an is recited unto them, worship not (Allah)? ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 God is quite aware of what they are storing in their hearts. 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 Except those who believe and do good; for them is a reward that shall never be cut off. 25
