۞ And your Lord has commanded that you shall not serve (any) but Him, and goodness to your parents. If either or both of them reach old age with you, say not to them (so much as) "Ugh" nor chide them, and speak to them a generous word. 23 and be humble and tender to them and say: "Lord, show mercy to them as they nurtured me when I was small." 24 Your Sustainer is fully aware of what is in your hearts. If you are righteous, [He will forgive you your errors]: for, behold, He is much-forgiving to those who turn unto Him again and again. 25 And give his due to the near of kin, as well as to the needy and the wayfarer, but do not squander [thy substance] senselessly. 26 Indeed, the wasteful are brothers of the devils, and ever has Satan been to his Lord ungrateful. 27 If you neglect (your parents) while seeking the bounty of your Lord, of which you are hopeful, speak to them softly. 28 And let not your hand be tied (like a miser) to your neck, nor stretch it forth to its utmost reach (like a spendthrift), so that you become blameworthy and in severe poverty. 29 Your Lord increases and determines the sustenance of whomever He wants. He is Well Aware and watches over His servants. 30
