Smoke (Al-Dukhaan)
59 verses, revealed in Mecca after Vanity (Al-Zukhruf) before Kneeling (Al-Jaatheyah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Ha Mim 1 By the Book that makes things clear; 2 We have indeed sent it down in a blessed night indeed it is We Who warn. 3 On that night is made distinct every precise matter - 4 determined as a bidding from Us, (We are ever sending) 5 (As) a Mercy from your Lord. Verily! He is the All-Hearer, the All-Knower. 6 He is the Lord of heaven and earth and all that is between them, if only you would really believe, 7 There is no deity save Him: He grants life and deals death: He is your Sustainer as well as the Sustainer of your forebears of old. 8 Nay, but they [who lack inner certainty] are but dying with their doubts. 9 So you await the day when the sky will bring forth a visible smoke. 10 That shall overtake men; this is a painful punishment. 11 Our Lord! remove from us the torment, verily we shall become believers. 12 [But] how shall this remembrance avail them [at the Last Hour,] seeing that an apostle had previously come unto them, clearly expounding the truth, 13 Then they had turned away from him (Messenger Muhammad SAW) and said: "One (Muhammad SAW) taught (by a human being), a madman!" 14 We now remove the punishment for some days so you will again commit the same. 15 However, We shall truly take Our revenge on the day when the great seizure takes place. 16 ۞ Already before them We tried the people of Pharaoh, and a noble Messenger came unto them, 17 saying, 'Deliver to me God's servants; I am for you a faithful Messenger, 18 Do not consider yourselves above God. I shall show you a manifest authority (in support of my truthfulness). 19 and I take refuge in my Lord and your Lord, lest you should stone me. 20 And if ye put no faith in me, then let me go. 21 And he called to his Lord, saying, 'These are a sinful people.' 22 [Allah said], "Then set out with My servants by night. Indeed, you are to be pursued. 23 (Cross and) leave the sea undisturbed. The (pursuing) hosts will surely be drowned," 24 How many gardens and water-springs they left behind! 25 sown fields, and how noble a station, 26 And the comfort they enjoyed. 27 Thus (it was), and We gave them as a heritage to another people. 28 And neither heaven nor earth shed a tear over them: nor were they given a respite (again). 29

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
