Thamud denied the warning 23 They said, "Should we follow only one person among us. We shall be clearly in error and in trouble (if we do so). 24 Has the [Divine] message been revealed to him alone of all of us? No, he is a boastful liar." 25 Tomorrow shall they know who is the liar, the insolent one. 26 We shall send the she-camel to try them. So watch them, and be constant. 27 And let them know that the water [of their wells] is to be divided between them, with each share of water equitably apportioned." 28 But they called to their companion, and he took a sword in hand, and hamstrung (her). 29 How then were My punishment and My warnings! 30 Indeed, We sent upon them one blast from the sky, and they became like the dry twig fragments of an [animal] pen. 31 And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? 32 LOT'S PEOPLE [too] gave the lie to all [Our] warnings: 33 Indeed We sent a shower of stones upon them, except the family of Lut; We rescued them before dawn. 34 as a blessing from Us: thus do We reward all who are grateful. 35 He had warned them of Our might, but they passed over the warnings. 36 And they had demanded from him his guests, but We obliterated their eyes, [saying], "Taste My punishment and warning." 37 And early in the morning the decreed punishment came upon them. 38 'Taste now My chastisement and My warnings!' 39 And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will mind? 40
