By the moon, 32 By the night when it departs. 33 and the morning when it appears, 34 it is one of the greatest trials, 35 A warning for people -- 36 a warning to everyone of you whether he would like to come forward or lag behind. 37 Every soul will be (held) in pledge for its deeds. 38 Except the people of the right hand, 39 (They will be) in Gardens (of Delight): they will question each other, 40 of those who were lost in sin: 41 "What led you into Hell Fire?" 42 They will say: "We were not of those who prayed; 43 “Nor used to feed the needy.” 44 And we used to enter into vain discourse with those who engaged [in it], 45 and the Day of Judgment we were wont to call a lie 46 till the certainty (death) overtook us' 47 Then will no intercession of (any) intercessors profit them. 48 Then what is [the matter] with them that they are, from the reminder, turning away 49 As if they were alarmed donkeys 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 Indeed, each one of them desires to be given unrolled scrolls. 52 Nay! But they fear not the Hereafter (from Allah's punishment). 53 Never so, as this is a reminder. 54 So whosoever willeth may heed it. 55 No one will seek guidance unless God wills it. He alone is worthy of being feared and He is the Source of Forgiveness. 56
