The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ Of what do they ask one another? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 No indeed; soon will they come to know; 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 And We have created you in pairs; 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And built seven strong roofs above you. 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 The mountains put in motion turning into a mirage. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 A dwelling place for the Taghun (those who transgress the boundry limits set by Allah like polytheists, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, hyprocrites, sinners, criminals, etc.), 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink 24 save boiling water and a stinking fluid -- 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 For indeed they did not look forward to any reckoning, 27 having given the lie to Our messages one and all: 28 But all things We have enumerated in writing. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
