The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By oath of the heaven, and by oath of the nightly arriver. 1 And what shall teach thee what is the night-star? 2 It is the piercing star. 3 There is no soul but that it has over it a protector. 4 So let man consider of what he was created; 5 He is created from a gushing fluid 6 issuing from between the backbone and the breastbone: 7 Lo! He verily is Able to return him (unto life) 8 The Day when secrets will be put on trial, 9 He shall have neither strength nor helper. 10 I swear by the raingiving heavens, 11 and the earth, bursting forth with plants! 12 It is surely a decisive utterance; 13 and is not to be taken lightly. 14 Lo! they plot a plot (against thee, O Muhammad) 15 And I (too) will make a scheme. 16 Therefore grant a delay to the Unbelievers: Give respite to them gently (for awhile). 17
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
End of Surah: The Comet (Al-Taareq). Sent down in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
