The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the Sun and his (glorious) splendour; 1 and by the moon when she follows him, 2 and by the day as it displays the sun's glory, 3 And the night when it draws a veil over it, 4 By the heaven and That which built it 5 The earth and its spreading out, 6 And a soul and Him Who perfected it 7 then inspired it to understand what was right and wrong for it. 8 To a happy state shall indeed attain he who causes this [self] to grow in purity, 9 and truly lost is he who buries it [in darkness]. 10 Thamood cried lies in their insolence 11 When the most wicked among them stood up in defiance. 12 So Allah's apostle said to them (Leave alone) Allah's she-camel, and (give) her (to) drink. 13 But they called him a liar and slaughtered her, therefore their Lord crushed them for their sin and levelled them (with the ground). 14 And for Him is no fear of its consequences. 15
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
