Have you considered he who turns his back, 33 and gives a little, grudgingly? 34 Is with him knowledge of the unseen so that he seeth? 35 Or has he not been informed of what was in the scriptures of Moses 36 And with Abraham who kept his word: 37 That no laden one shall bear another's load, 38 and that man shall have nothing but what he has striven for, 39 And that his effort will soon be scrutinised? 40 Then will he be rewarded with a reward complete; 41 and that the final return is to your Lord, 42 And that it is He who makes [one] laugh and weep 43 And that it is He who causes death and gives life 44 and that He Himself created the two kinds, male and female, 45 From a drop of liquid, when it is added? 46 and that it is for Him to grant the second life, 47 And that it is He Who has given wealth and contentment? 48 and that He is the Lord of (the star) Sirius, 49 It is He who utterly destroyed the ancient tribes of Ad, 50 And (the tribe of) Thamud He spared not; 51 And the people of Nuh before; surely they were most unjust and inordinate; 52 and the Subverted City He also overthrew, 53 And covered them by that which He covered. 54 About which, then, of thy Sustainer's powers canst thou [still] remain in doubt? 55 He who warns you is one of the warners of old. 56 The approaching event has come near. 57 None besides Allah can avert it, (or advance it, or delay it). 58 Do you, perchance, find this tiding strange? 59 And will ye laugh and not weep,- 60 Will you occupy yourselves simply in merriment? 61 [Nay,] but prostrate yourselves before God, and worship [Him alone]! ۩ 62
