The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
O you who are clothed! 1 Arise and deliver thy warning! 2 And thy Lord do thou magnify! 3 thy robes purify 4 And pollution shun. 5 And bestow not favors that you may receive again with increase, 6 And be patient for the sake of your Lord (i.e. perform your duty to Allah)! 7 For when the trumpet blows 8 So that is a tough day. 9 and it will not be easy for the unbelievers. 10 Leave Me (to deal) with him whom I created lonely, 11 and appointed for him ample wealth 12 And sons dwelling in his presence, 13 And spread [everything] before him, easing [his life]. 14 Yet he wants that I should give him more. 15 Never will he receive more. He has been hostile to Our revelations. 16 We shall make him suffer the torment of hell without relief. 17 For lo! he did consider; then he planned - 18 But may he be cursed how he plotted; 19 Again, death seize him, how he determined! 20 Then he looked round; 21 Then he frowned and scowled, 22 Then he turned back and was proud; 23 Then he said: This is naught but enchantment, narrated (from others); 24 This is not but the word of a human being." 25 I shall surely roast him in Sakar; 26 - Ah, what will convey unto thee what that burning is! - 27 It neither leaves, nor spares. 28 It glows and burns the skin. 29 Over it are nineteen (guards). 30 And We have set none but angels as guardians of the Fire, and We have fixed their number (19) only as a trial for the disbelievers, in order that the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) may arrive at a certainty [that this Quran is the truth as it agrees with their Books i.e. their number (19) is written in the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)] and the believers may increase in Faith (as this Quran is the truth) and that no doubts may be left for the people of the Scripture and the believers, and that those in whose hearts is a disease (of hypocrisy) and the disbelievers may say: "What Allah intends by this (curious) example?" Thus Allah leads astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none can know the hosts of your Lord but He. And this (Hell) is nothing else than a (warning) reminder to mankind. 31
