And do not kill your children for fear of poverty; We give them sustenance and yourselves (too); surely to kill them is a great wrong. 31 Do not commit adultery, for it is an indecent thing and an evil course. 32 Do not take life which God has made inviolate -- except by right. If anyone is killed wrongfully, We have given authority to his heirs to demand retribution, but let them not transgress the prescribed limits in exacting retribution; for then he will be assisted [by the law]. 33 And do not approach the property of the orphan save in the fairest manner, until he is of age. And fulfil the covenant; surely the covenant shall be questioned of. 34 (xii) Give full measure when you measure, and weigh with even scales. That is fair and better in consequence. 35 And go not thou after that where of thou hast no knowledge verily the hearing and the sight and the heart, each of these shall be asked about. 36 And walk not in the earth exultantly; certainly thou wilt never tear the earth open, nor attain the mountains in height. 37 The evil of all that is hateful in the sight of thy Lord. 38 That is from what your Lord has revealed to you, [O Muhammad], of wisdom. And, [O mankind], do not make [as equal] with Allah another deity, lest you be thrown into Hell, blamed and banished. 39 What! has then your Lord preferred to give you sons, and (for Himself) taken daughters from among the angels? Most surely you utter a grievous saying. 40
