Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Ha, Meem. 1 By the Clear Book 2 Verily We! We have made it an Arabic Qur'an that haply ye may reflect. 3 And the Qur’an is undoubtedly, in the Original Book with Us, surely the exalted, full of wisdom. 4 Shall We turn away the Remembrance from you, for that you are a prodigal people? 5 We have sent many a prophet to earlier peoples 6 But never yet came a prophet to them without their deriding him 7 and so, [in the end,] We destroyed them [even though they were] of greater might than these: and the [very] image of those people of old became a thing of the past. 8 Yet, if you ask them who created the heavens and the earth, they will answer: 'The Almighty, the Knower created them' 9 The One Who made the earth a bed for you, and made roads for you in it, so that you may be guided. 10 That sends down (from time to time) rain from the sky in due measure;- and We raise to life therewith a land that is dead; even so will ye be raised (from the dead);- 11 And the One Who created all pairs, and made the ships and cattle as rides for you. 12 so that you may sit firmly on their backs. Then once you have mounted them, remember your Lord's favour and say, "Glory be to Him who has subjected these creatures to us; we would never on our own have subdued them. 13 And lo! unto our Lord we surely are returning. 14 The pagans have considered some of His servants as His children. There is no doubt that the human being is simply ungrateful. 15
