The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By oath of the beloved shining star Mohammed (peace and blessings be upon him), when he returned from the Ascent. 1 your companion is not in error nor has he gone astray. 2 nor does he speak out of desire. 3 It is not but a revelation revealed, 4 He has been taught (this Quran) by one mighty in power [Jibrael (Gabriel)]. 5 by the great mighty one (Gabriel), 6 appearing in the horizon's loftiest part, 7 Then he approached and descended 8 So the distance between the Spectacle and the beloved was only two arms’ length, or even less. (The Heavenly Journey of Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him – was with body and soul.) 9 So did (Allah) convey the inspiration to His Servant- (conveyed) what He (meant) to convey. 10 The (Prophet's) heart lied not (in seeing) what he (Muhammad SAW) saw. 11 Are you, then, going to contend with him regarding what he sees with his eyes? 12 And indeed he did see the Spectacle again. 13 to the Lot-tree (in the seven heavens) 14 Near it is the Garden of Abode. 15 When that which covers covered the lote-tree; 16 The eye did not turn aside, nor did it exceed the limit. 17 He certainly saw of the greatest signs of his Lord. 18 Have ye then considered Al-Lat and AL-'uzza: 19 And another, the third (goddess), Manat? 20 Is the male for you and for Him the female? 21 Behold, such would be indeed a division most unfair! 22 These are nothing but names that you and your forefathers have invented, for which Allah has sent down no authority. They are merely following their conjectures and their carnal desires although guidance has come to them from their Lord. 23 Does man imagine that it is his due to have all that he might wish for, 24 To Allah belongs the Eternal life and the first life. 25
