The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
CONSIDER Mount Sinai! 1 And [by] a Book inscribed 2 In parchment spread open 3 by the Visited House, 4 by the high ceiling (heaven), 5 And the swollen sea, 6 the punishment of your Lord shall certainly come to pass, 7 none can avert that. 8 On the day when the heavens will swiftly fly 9 And the mountains will move with a visible movement. 10 woe that day unto those that cry lies, 11 all those who [throughout their lives] but idly played with things vain 12 The day when they are thrust with a (disdainful) thrust, into the fire of hell 13 (And told:) "This is the fire which you denied. 14 Is this magic, or is it that you do not see? 15 "Burn ye therein: the same is it to you whether ye bear it with patience, or not: Ye but receive the recompense of your (own) deeds." 16 Verily, the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2) will be in Gardens (Paradise), and Delight. 17 Enjoying in that which their Lord has bestowed on them, and (the fact that) their Lord saved them from the torment of the blazing Fire. 18 "Eat and drink with good cheer as a reward for your good deeds," 19 reclining on couches arranged in rows. And We shall wed them to fair maidens with large beautiful eyes. 20 And those who believed and whose descendants followed them in faith - We will join with them their descendants, and We will not deprive them of anything of their deeds. Every person, for what he earned, is retained. 21 And We shall bestow on them fruit and meat in abundance - whatever they may desire: 22 They will pass cups of un-intoxicating and unsinful wine to one another. 23 ۞ And there will go round boy-servants of theirs, to serve them as if they were preserved pearls. 24 And one of them turned towards the other, questioning. 25 Saying: Lo! of old, when we were with our families, we were ever anxious; 26 But Allah hath been gracious unto us and hath preserved us from the torment of the breath of Fire. 27 We used to pray to Him erstwhile; He is the just and merciful. 28
