Hast thou considered him who turns his back 33 Who gives but little, and is niggardly? 34 Does he have knowledge of the hidden, so he can foresee? 35 Or has he not been told of what is in the scrolls of Moses, 36 and Abraham, who paid his debt in full? 37 That no soul shall bear another's burden, 38 and that man shall have nothing but what he has striven for, 39 And that his endeavour shall be presently observed. 40 and will be fully recompensed for his deeds. 41 and that the final end is unto thy Lord, 42 that it is He who brings laughter and tears; 43 and that He it is Who causes death and grants life, 44 And that He createth the pair, the male and the female. 45 From the small seed when it is adapted 46 And that on Him is the bringing forth a second time; 47 That it is He who makes you rich and contented; 48 and that He is the Lord of (the star) Sirius, 49 And that it is He Who destroyed the (powerful) ancient 'Ad (people), 50 And that Thamud! He left not. 51 as well as the people of Noah before them - [since,] verily, they all had been most willful in their evildoing and most overweening 52 just as He thrust into perdition those cities that were overthrown 53 So that they were covered over by what they were covered over. 54 About which, then, of thy Sustainer's powers canst thou [still] remain in doubt? 55 THIS IS a warning like those warnings of old: 56 The Day of Resurrection draws near, 57 None, except Allah, can avert it. 58 Do you then marvel at this discourse, 59 Why do you laugh rather than weep? 60 While ye amuse yourselves? 61 So bow yourselves before God, and serve Him! ۩ 62
