The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness] 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 and when the mountains are moved, 3 and when she-camels big with young, about to give birth, are left untended, 4 The wild beasts stampede on the run, 5 and when the seas boil over, 6 And when the souls are paired 7 And when the girl-child that was buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was slain. 9 And when the books are spread, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped, 11 and Hell is stoked, 12 when Paradise shall be brought nigh, 13 (Then) shall each soul know what it has put forward. 14 So by oath of those that revolve. (The planets.) 15 The planets withdrawing into themselves, 16 by the night when it approaches 17 And by the dawn when it breathes 18 Verily it is a Word brought by a messenger honoured, 19 Endued with Power, with rank before the Lord of the Throne, 20 Obeyed one; then trustworthy. 21 And your comrade is not mad. 22 And of a truth he saw himself on the clear horizon. 23 And he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) withholds not a knowledge of the unseen. 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 Whither then will you go? 26 It is naught but a Reminder unto all beings, 27 for everyone of you who wishes to follow the Straight Way; 28 And what will you wish, except if Allah wills – the Lord of the Creation. 29
