The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder, 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 and when the earth is leveled, 3 And has cast out all that was in it and became empty, 4 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] - 5 O human, you are working hard towards your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 And he shall go back to his people joyful. 9 But whosoever is given his Record behind his back, 10 He surely will invoke destruction 11 And will go into the blazing fire. 12 He lived rejoicing among his people, 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 and the night, and what it [step by step] unfolds, 17 And by the moon when she is at the full, 18 that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. 19 So, wherefore do they not believe? 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Nay, (on the contrary), those who disbelieve, belie (Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and whatever he brought, i.e. this Quran and Islamic Monotheism, etc.). 22 and God knows very well what they are secreting. 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 Except those who believe and do good; for them is a reward that shall never be cut off. 25
