Has the story of Abraham's honoured guests come to you? 24 When those [heavenly messengers] came unto him and bade him peace, he answered, "[And upon you be] peace!" - [saying to himself,] "They are strangers." 25 Then he turned quickly to his household, and brought a fatted calf, 26 He set it before them, saying: 'Will you not eat' 27 So he conceived in his mind a fear on account of them. They said: Fear not. And they gave him the good news of a boy possessing knowledge. 28 (Sarah) his wife came with an exclamation and clasped her face, and said: 'Surely, I am a barren old woman' 29 They said: even so saith thine Lord. Verily He! He is the Wise, the Knower. 30 ۞ Abraham asked, "Messengers, what is your task?" 31 They replied: “Behold, we have been sent to a wicked people 32 to loose upon them stones of clay 33 Marked by your Lord for those who waste their substance." 34 Then We evacuated those of the Believers who were there, 35 for apart from one [single] house We did not find there any who had surrendered themselves to Us. 36 And therein We left a sign to those who fear the painful chastisement. 37 And in Musa (Moses) (too, there is a sign). When We sent him to Fir'aun (Pharaoh) with a manifest authority. 38 But he turned to his counsellors, and said: "He is a magician or lunatic." 39 Then We seized him and his army and cast them all into the sea: he himself [Pharaoh] was to blame. 40 And also in Ad, when We loosed against them the withering wind 41 that left nothing it came upon, but made it as stuff decayed. 42 There is also evidence (of the Truth) in the story of the Thamud, who were told to enjoy themselves for an appointed time. 43 But they brazenly disobeyed their Lord's command, and then a sudden chastisement overtook them while they looked on. 44 they could not stand up again, nor could they defend themselves. 45 And the people of Nuh We destroyed aforetime; verily they were a people transgressing. 46
