Have you [Prophet] considered the man who turned away, 33 and grudgingly spends very little for the cause of God? 34 Or, does he possess knowledge of the Unseen, and can therefore see? 35 Or hath he not had news of what is in the books of Moses 36 And Abraham who paid his debt: 37 that no soul shall bear the burden of another; 38 And that man hath only that for which he maketh effort, 39 That (the fruit of) his striving will soon come in sight: 40 Then will he be rewarded with a reward complete; 41 and that the final end is unto thy Lord, 42 And that He it is who maketh laugh, and maketh weep, 43 And that it is He who causes death and gives life 44 And that He createth the two spouses, the male and the female, 45 From a drop (of seed) when it is poured forth; 46 And that only upon Him is the next revival? 47 And that He it is Who enricheth and contenteth; 48 And that it is He who is the Lord of Sirius 49 And that He destroyed the former 'A-ad. 50 and Thamud tribes, 51 And before them, the people of Noah, for that they were (all) most unjust and most insolent transgressors, 52 And that it is He Who threw down the upturned townships? 53 so that there came upon them that which came. 54 About which of the bounties of your Lord can they persistently dispute? 55 This is a warning just like those of former times. 56 The Day of Judgment is drawing nearer. 57 None but God can avert it. 58 Do you, perchance, find this tiding strange? 59 And keep laughing and do not weep, 60 and divert yourselves all the while? 61 [Nay,] but prostrate yourselves before God, and worship [Him alone]! ۩ 62
