He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 Now he who waxes indifferent, 5 You pay full attention, 6 Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace). 7 And he who comes to thee eagerly 8 and fearfully, 9 From him you are distracted. 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 So whoever wills, let him pay attention to it. 12 On honoured leaves 13 Exalted (in dignity), purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Noble and pious. 16 Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 Of a sperm-drop He created him, and determined him, 19 then eased his path for him, 20 Then He causes him to die, and puts him in his grave; 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 Nay; but he has not done what He bade him. 23 So let man just consider his food: 24 For that We pour forth water in abundance, 25 And We split the earth in fragments, 26 how We made the grain to grow, 27 grapes, and fresh fodder, 28 and olives, and palms, 29 thickly planted gardens, 30 and fruits, and pastures, 31 Provision for you and your cattle. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 On the day when a man fleeth from his brother 34 and his mother and his father; 35 and his consort and his children; 36 on that Day, to every one of them will his own state be of sufficient concern. 37 Some faces that Day will be beaming, 38 laughing, rejoicing at glad tidings. 39 but some faces will be covered with dust 40 and overcast with gloom: 41 these, these will be the ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity! 42
