The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
When the sun Kuwwirat (wound round and lost its light and is overthrown). 1 And when the stars shall fall; 2 the mountains are scattered about as dust, 3 And when the pregnant she-camels shall be neglected; 4 And when the wild beasts are gathered 5 And when the seas are set on fire, 6 When the souls are sorted out, (being joined, like with like); 7 And when the girl-child who was buried alive is asked. 8 For what sin she was killed 9 When the scrolls are laid open; 10 when heaven shall be stripped off; 11 When the Blazing Fire is kindled to fierce heat; 12 when Paradise shall be brought nigh, 13 then every soul will discover the consequence of its deeds. 14 No! I swear by the slinkers, 15 That run their course (and) hide themselves, 16 And the close of night, 17 and the first breath of morning. 18 Verily, this is the Word (this Quran brought by) a most honourable messenger [Jibrael (Gabriel), from Allah to the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him)]. 19 Mighty, established in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 [the word] of one to be heeded, and worthy of trust! 21 Your companion is not mad. 22 in truth he saw him (Gabriel) on the clear horizon, 23 And he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) withholds not a knowledge of the unseen. 24 Nor is this the utterance of a devil worthy to be stoned. 25 When whither go ye? 26 This [message] is no less than a reminder to all mankind 27 For the one among you who wishes to become upright. 28 but you shall not, unless Allah wills, the Lord of all the Worlds. 29
