Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Have you heard about the Overwhelming Event? 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). 3 They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire. 4 Given to drink of a spring fiercely boiling. 5 For them there will be no food except from a poisonous, thorny plant 6 Which will neither fatten nor avail against hunger. 7 Faces on that day jocund, 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 In a lofty Paradise. 10 wherein thou wilt hear no empty talk. 11 with a flowing spring, 12 Wherein are couches raised 13 and goblets laid out, 14 well-placed cushions, 15 And carpets spread around. 16 What, do they not reflect upon how the camel was created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And the mountains, how they are firmly fixed, 19 And the earth, how it is made a vast expanse? 20 Remind them; you are surely a reminder. 21 You are not at all a guardian over them. 22 Save the one who turns away and disbelieves 23 God will punish them with the greatest torment. 24 Indeed, to Us they shall return, 25 Then it will be for Us to call them to account. 26
