The Embryo (Al-Alaq)

19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)

In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate

Recite in the name of your Lord who created - 1 created man from a clot of congealed blood. 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 The One Who taught to write with the pen. 4 Taught man what he knew not. 5 Nay, surely man transgresses; 6 As he considers himself independent! 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the returning. 8 What do you think? Have you seen he who forbids 9 a servant [of God] from praying? 10 Did you consider: what if he is on the Right Way, 11 and enjoins piety? 12 Bethinkest thou, if he belieth and turneth away? 13 Did he not realise that Allah is watching? 14 Nay, but if he cease not We will seize him by the forelock - 15 the lying, rebellious forehead! 16 Let him call on his associates for help 17 We shall summon the guards of Hell. 18 No indeed; do thou not obey him, and bow thyself, and draw nigh. ۩ 19

Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
