The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ Draws near for mankind their reckoning, while they turn away in heedlessness. 1 Never does a new reminder come to them from their Lord but they listen to it with dalliance. 2 their hearts are distracted and forgetful. The wrongdoers confer together secretly, saying, "Is not this man a mortal like you? Will you succumb to magic with your eyes open?" 3 And the Prophet said, “My Lord knows all that is spoken in the heavens and in the earth; and He only is the All Hearing, the All Knowing." 4 "Nay," they say, "(these are) medleys of dream! - Nay, He forged it! - Nay, He is (but) a poet! Let him then bring us a Sign like the ones that were sent to (Prophets) of old!" 5 Not one city that We destroyed before them believed; what then, will they not believe? 6 Before thee, also, the messengers We sent were but men, to whom We granted inspiration: If ye realise this not, ask of those who possess the Message. 7 We gave them not bodies that would not eat food, nor were they immortals. 8 Our promise to them came true and We saved them and those whom We wanted, but destroyed the unjust people. 9 We have sent down to you a Book which has a reminder for you. Do you not understand? 10
