Whatever misfortune befalls you is of your own doing, God forgives much, 30 And you cannot escape from Allah (i.e. His Punishment) in the earth, and besides Allah you have neither any Wali (guardian or a protector) nor any helper. 31 And among His Signs are the ships, in the sea, like mountains. 32 If He so wills, He can cause the winds to become still so that they will remain motionless on its surface. Surely there are many Signs in this for those who are wont to be steadfast and give thanks. 33 Or He could destroy them for what they earned; but He pardons much. 34 Then those who wrangle about Our Signs will come to know that there is no escape for them. 35 Whatever you have received is just a means of enjoyment for this life but the reward of God for the believers and those who trust in their Lord will be better and everlasting. 36 Those who avoid the greater crimes and shameful deeds, and, when they are angry even then forgive; 37 Who obey the commands of their Lord and fulfil their devotional obligations, whose affairs are settled by mutual consultation, who spend of what We have given them, 38 And those who take revenge when rebellion harms them. 39 The meed of an ill-deed is an ill the like thereunto; but whosoever pardoneth and amendeth, his hire is on Allah; verily He approveth not the wrong-doers. 40 Those who defend themselves after they have been wronged cannot be held blameworthy, 41 blame falls only on those who wrong men and transgress on this earth without justification, such will have a painful punishment, 42 To exercise patience and forgive (the wrong done to one) is the proof of genuine determination. 43
