The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the Sky and the Night-Visitant (therein);- 1 And what will make you know what the comer by night is? 2 It is the star that pierces through [life's] darkness: 3 There is not a soul that does not have a guardian over it. 4 Let man reflect on what he was created from. 5 He is created from a water dripping, 6 Proceeding from between the back-bone and the ribs, 7 Surely (Allah) is able to bring him back (to life)! 8 On a Day whereon secrets shall be out. 9 he shall have no power, and no helper. 10 By the heaven which giveth the returning rain, 11 And the earth which splitteth (with the growth of trees and plants) 12 BEHOLD, this [divine writ] is indeed a word that distinguishes between truth and falsehood, 13 It is no pleasantry. 14 Surely they will make a scheme, 15 But I too am devising a plan. 16 So respite thou the infidels - respite them gently, 17
God the Almighty always says the truth.
