And indeed, the Qur'an is the revelation of the Lord of the worlds. 192 The Trustworthy Spirit brought it down. (Angel Jibreel – peace be upon him.) 193 To (communicate) to your heart that you may be a warner 194 In plain Arabic speech. 195 And verily, it (the Quran, and its revelation to Prophet Muhammad SAW) is (announced) in the Scriptures [i.e. the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)] of former people. 196 Is it not a sign to them that the learned scholars (like 'Abdullah bin Salam who embraced Islam) of the Children of Israel knew it (as true)? 197 (But such is their adamance) that had We revealed it to one of the non-Arabs and even if he had recited (this clear Arabic discourse) to them 198 And he had recited it unto them, they would not have believed in it. 199 Even so We have caused it to enter into the hearts of the sinners, 200 They will not believe in it until they suffer the painful torment. 201 It shall come unto them on a sudden, and they shall not perceive. 202 Then they will exclaim, "Could we have some respite?" 203 Do they, then, [really] wish that Our chastisement be hastened on? 204 Do you not see that even if We give them respite for years 205 And then the promise that is given to them, does come upon them- 206 of what avail to them will be all their past enjoyments? 207 Never did We destroy a population, but had its warners - 208 By way of admonition, and We have never been oppressors. 209 And the devils have not brought the revelation down. 210 They are not worthy of it, nor have they power. 211 Truly, they are expelled from hearing. 212 (Muhammad), do not worship anything besides God lest you suffer the punishment. 213 And admonish thy nearest kinsmen, 214 And lower thy wing to the Believers who follow thee. 215 And if they disobey you, then say, "Indeed, I am disassociated from what you are doing." 216 Put thy trust in the All-mighty, the All-compassionate 217 Who seeth thee when thou standest up (to pray) 218 And your movements among those who fall prostrate (along with you to Allah in the five compulsory congregational prayers). 219 Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Knowing. 220 Shall I inform you upon whom do the devils descend? 221 They descend upon all sinful self-deceivers 222 They listen eagerly, but most of them are liars. 223 And the poets - [only] the deviators follow them; 224 Did you not see that they keep wandering in every valley? 225 preaching what they do not practice. 226 [Most of them are of this kind] save those who have attained to faith, and do righteous deeds, and remember God unceasingly, and defend themselves [only] after having been wronged, and [trust in God's promise that] those who are bent on wrongdoing will in time come to know how evil a turn their destinies are bound to take! 227
