Jonah was certainly a Messenger. 139 When he ran to the laden ship, 140 And then they cast lots, and he was the one who lost; 141 So the fish swallowed him while he did that for which he blamed himself 142 And had he not been one of those who glorify (Allah) 143 He would have remained in its belly till the day when all will be raised. 144 ۞ Then We cast him on a desert shore while he was sick; 145 And We caused to grow up for him a gourdplant. 146 And We sent him to a hundred thousand, rather they exceeded. 147 and [this time] they believed [in him] and so We allowed them to enjoy their life during the time allotted to them? 148 AND NOW ask them to enlighten thee: Has thy Sustainer daughters, whereas they would have [only] sons? 149 Or did We create the angels females, while they were witnesses? 150 Behold, it is one of their fabrications that they say: 151 "Allah has begotten off spring or children (i.e. angels are the daughters of Allah)?" And, verily, they are liars! 152 Hath He chosen daughters above sons? 153 Woe to you! How terrible is your Judgment. 154 Will ye not then receive admonition? 155 Or have you received some clear authority? 156 Produce, then, that divine writ of yours, if you are speaking the truth! 157 And they assert a relationship between Him and the jinn; and certainly the jinn do know that they shall surely be brought up; 158 Glory be to Allah (for freedom) from what they describe; 159 all of them except the chosen servants of Allah. 160 neither you nor what you worship 161 Not against Him can you cause (any) to fall into trial, 162 except him who shall roast in Hell. 163 (Gabriel said to the Prophet): 'Each of us has a known place. 164 And most surely we are they who draw themselves out in ranks, 165 we are they that give glory. 166 And surely they used to say: 167 'If only we had had a Reminder from the ancients, 168 we would surely have been Allah's chosen servants.” 169 They have rejected the Quran. They will soon know the consequences (of their disbelief). 170 And surely Our word has gone forth respecting Our servants, the messengers: 171 That they would certainly be assisted, 172 And surely, only Our army will be victorious. 173 So turn thou from them for a while, 174 And watch them and they shall see (the punishment)! 175 Would they hasten on Our doom? 176 But when it descends into the open space before them, evil will be the morning for those who were warned (and heeded not)! 177 Withdraw from them awhile 178 And watch (how they fare) and they soon shall see (how thou farest)! 179 Purity is to your Lord, the Lord of Honour, from all what they say. 180 So peace be on the messengers, 181 and praise be to God, the Lord of all the Worlds. 182
