The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 About the great tidings! 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 And made the night as clothing 10 And made the day for livelihood 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 and have placed [therein the sun,] a lamp full of blazing splendour. 13 And from the wind-driven clouds We send down waters pouring in abundance, 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 and luxuriant gardens. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance. 20 Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, 21 It will be a place of return 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 and where they will taste neither coolness nor any drink 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30
