He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 when the blind came to him. 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him? 4 As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient, 5 To him you attend; 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 But as to him who came to you running. 8 and in awe [of God] 9 you ignore him. 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 So whoever wishes may remember it. 12 upon highly honored pages, 13 uplifted, purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Noble and pious. 16 May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? 17 From what substance did He create him? 18 Of a sperm-drop He created him, and determined him, 19 Then eased the way for him. 20 then causes him to die and buries him, 21 Then, when He willed, He brought him out. (As during the night of Holy Prophet’s ascension, when all the Prophets gathered behind him in the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Or when Allah will raise everyone on the Day of Resurrection.) 22 Nay; but he has not done what He bade him. 23 Let man, then, consider [the sources of] his food: 24 It is We Who pour forth water, pouring, 25 Thereafter We cleave the earth in clefts, 26 Thereby produced grain in it. 27 and vines, and reeds, 28 and olives and palms, 29 and burgeoning enclosed gardens 30 and fruits and herbage, 31 for you and for your herds to delight in. 32 But when the deafening blast is sounded, 33 on the Day when each man shall flee from his brother, 34 his mother and his father, 35 his consort, his sons, 36 on that Day each will be occupied with his own business, making him oblivious of all save himself. 37 Some faces on that day shall shine 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust. 40 Veiled in darkness, 41 those -- they are the unbelievers, the libertines. 42
