The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
78 verses, revealed in Medina after Thunder (Al-Ra'ad) before The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The Most Beneficent (Allah)! 1 has taught the Koran. 2 He hath created man. 3 and taught him its pronunciation. 4 The sun and the moon are in a reckoning. 5 The stars and the trees prostrate themselves. 6 He raised the heavens and set up the measure, 7 so that you should not transgress the measure. 8 Always measure with justice and do not give short measure. 9 And earth -- He set it down for all beings, 10 There exists all kinds of fruits, palm-trees with sheathed blossoms, 11 and grain growing tall on its stalks, and sweet-smelling plants. 12 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 13 He created the human being from clay like that used for pottery 14 and jinn from the many colored flames of fire. 15 Which favors of your Lord will you both belie? 16 [He is] the Sustainer of the two farthest points of sunrise, and the Sustainer of the two farthest points of sunset. 17 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 18 He has let loosed the two seas (the salt water and the sweet) meeting together. 19 In-between the twain is a barrier which they pass not. 20 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie? 21 Pearls and coral-stone come forth from them. 22 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 23 His are the ships, towering on the sea like mountains. 24 Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny? 25
