The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ Of what ask they? 1 Of the mighty Announcement, 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 Surely, they will soon find out the truth! 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 and We appointed a blazing lamp 13 And from the wind-driven clouds We send down waters pouring in abundance, 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 the Day that the Horn is blown, and you shall come in crowds 18 And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, 19 and the mountains shall be made to vanish, as if they had been a mirage. 20 Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, 21 a return for the insolent, 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold, 25 A fitting recompense (for them). 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
