The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
WHEN THE SUN is folded up, 1 And when the stars fall, dispersing, 2 and the mountains have been taken, 3 And when the camels big with young are abandoned, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together, 5 the oceans are brought to a boil, 6 And when souls are reunited, 7 And when the girl-child that was buried alive is asked 8 For what crime she was put to death; 9 And when the pages are laid open, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped, 11 And when hell is lighted, 12 And when the garden is brought nigh, 13 then shall each person know what he has brought along. 14 No indeed; I swear by the alternating stars 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 And by the night as it departs; 17 And by the morning when it shineth forth, 18 That this is indeed the word of an honoured Messenger, 19 with strength endowed, secure with Him who in almightiness is enthroned 20 Obeyed and worthy there of trust. 21 Your companion is not mad. 22 And he has already seen Gabriel in the clear horizon. 23 And he is of the unseen not a tenacious concealer. 24 nor is it a word of an accursed Satan. 25 So where are you going? 26 It is nothing but Good Counsel for everyone in the world, 27 for whosoever of you who would go straight; 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
