The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 And has cast out that within it and relinquished [it] 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 He shall be reckoned with by an easy reckoning, 8 and they will return to their people, delighted 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 And shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste its burning. 12 Surely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers. 13 He verily deemed that he would never return (unto Allah). 14 But yes! Indeed, his Lord was ever of him, Seeing. 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 by the night and what it covers, 17 And the Moon in her fullness: 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 What is the matter with them, that they do not believe 20 And when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance? ۩ 21 Nay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]! 22 And Allah knoweth best what they are hiding. 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 Except those who believe and do good; for them is a reward that shall never be cut off. 25
