Thorns (Al-Masad)

5 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Key (Al-Faatehah) before The Rolling (Al-Takweer)

Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

May the hands of Abu Lahab perish! May he too perish! 1 His wealth did not avail him, nor his acquisitions. 2 He will [enter to] burn in a Fire of [blazing] flame 3 And his wife [as well] - the carrier of firewood. 4 A rope made from palm fibre around her neck! 5

God Almighty has spoken the truth.
