And (remember) when your Lord called Musa (Moses) (saying): "Go to the people who are Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doing), 10 and ask them, "Why do you not fear God?" 11 He said, "My Lord, indeed I fear that they will deny me 12 And my breast straitens, and my tongue is not eloquent, therefore send Thou to Haroun (to help me); 13 Moreover, they keep a grave charge [pending] against me, and I fear that they will slay me." 14 Said He, 'No indeed; but go, both of you, with Our signs, and We assuredly shall be with you, listening. 15 And come together unto Pharaoh and say: Lo! we bear a message of the Lord of the Worlds, 16 Then send with us the children of Israel. 17 Pharaoh said to Moses, "Did we not bring you up among us as a child? And you spent several years of your life with us. 18 "And you did your deed, which you did (i.e. the crime of killing a man). And you are one of the ingrates." 19 He (Moses) replied: 'Indeed, I did that when I was among those who stray. 20 and I fled from you because I feared you. Then my Lord granted me wisdom and made me one of the messengers. 21 That is a blessing thou reproachest me with, having enslaved the Children of Israel.' 22 Firon said: And what is the Lord of the worlds? 23 He said: Lord of the heavens and the earth and whatsoever is in-between, if ye seek to be convinced. 24 (Pharaoh) said to those around: "Did ye not listen (to what he says)?" 25 He said, 'Your Lord and the Lord of your fathers, the ancients' 26 Said he, 'Surely your Messenger who was sent to you is possessed!' 27 [But Moses] went on: "[He of whom I speak is] the Sustainer of the east and the west and of all that is between the two - as you would know]" if you would but use your reason!" 28 Said Firaun, “If you ascribe any one else as a God other than me, I will surely imprison you.” 29 Said Moosa, “Even if I bring to you something clear?” 30 Fir'aun (Pharaoh) said: "Bring it forth then, if you are of the truthful!" 31 (No sooner had he said this than) Moses threw down his rod and behold, it was a veritable serpent, 32 And he drew out his hand, and behold, it was white to all beholders! 33
