۞ Gather together those who were unjust and their associates, and what they used to worship 22 “Instead of Allah – and herd them to the path leading to hell.” 23 "But stop them, for they must be asked: 24 'But what is the matter with you that you cannot help one another?,'" 25 Nay! on that Day they will be entirely submissive. 26 but [since it will be too late,] they will turn upon one another, demanding of each other [to relieve them of the burden of their past sins]. 27 (The followers will say to their leaders): “You used to come to us from the right hand.” 28 But they reply: 'Rather, you were not believers. 29 And we had over you no authority, but ye were a people exorbitant. 30 But now our Sustainer's word has come true against us [as well]: verily, we are bound to taste [the fruit of our sins]. 31 "We led you astray: for truly we were ourselves astray." 32 So indeed they, that Day, will be sharing in the punishment. 33 Indeed, that is how We deal with the criminals. 34 for when it was said to them, 'There is no god but God,' they were ever waxing proud, 35 And (they) said: "Are we going to abandon our aliha (gods) for the sake of a mad poet? 36 "Surely, he has brought the truth, confirming those who were sent before; 37 Verily ye are going to taste a torment afflictive. 38 And you will be requited nothing except for what you used to do (evil deeds, sins, and Allah's disobedience which you used to do in this world); 39 But the sincere (and devoted) Servants of Allah,- 40 will have their determined sustenance 41 Fruits; and they will be honored 42 In Gardens of Felicity, 43 On thrones facing one another. 44 A bowl shall be made to go round them from water running out of springs, 45 White, a pleasure unto the drinkers. 46 Neither does it intoxicate, nor give a headache. 47 And with them shall be those who restrain the eyes, having beautiful eyes; 48 [as free of faults] as if they were hidden [ostrich] eggs. 49 Then one turned to the other in an enquiry. 50 A speaker among them will say, "Indeed, I had a companion [on earth] 51 Who used to say: Art thou in truth of those who put faith (in his words)? 52 After we are dead and have become all dust and bones shall we still be requited?' 53 He saith: Will ye look? 54 He looked down and saw (his friend) in the midst of Hell. 55 He shall say: By Allah! you had almost caused me to perish; 56 And had it not been for the favour of my Lord, I too had been of those haled forth (to doom). 57 So, are we not going to die, 58 "Except our first death, and we shall not be punished? (after we have entered Paradise)." 59 Indeed, this is the great attainment. 60 For the like of this let the workers [on earth] work. 61 Is this better as an entertainment or the tree of Zaqqum? 62 We have made this (tree) a trial for the evildoers. 63 For it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hell-Fire: 64 its spathes are like the heads of satans 65 The dwellers of hell will eat that fruit and fill-up their bellies. 66 Then after it, indeed for them is the drink of boiling hot water. 67 Then indeed, their return will be to the Hellfire. 68 These are the ones who found their fathers steeped in error, 69 and rushed to follow them. 70 And verily most of the men of old went astray before them, 71 But We sent aforetime, among them, (messengers) to admonish them;- 72 Then look how was the end of those who were warned - 73 Except the servants of Allah, the purified ones. 74
