And Jonah too was one of the Messengers. 139 He ran away to the laden ship, 140 And he drew lots and was among the losers. 141 The fish then swallowed him and he blamed himself. (For not waiting for Allah’s command.) 142 And had he not been of those who [even in the deep darkness of their distress are able to] extol God's limitless glory, 143 he would certainly have remained inside the fish until the Day of Resurrection. 144 ۞ but We cast him upon the wilderness, and he was sick, 145 We made a plant of gourd grow up for him. 146 Then We sent him to a hundred thousand or more, 147 And they believed, therefor We gave them comfort for a while. 148 Therefore ask them (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him), whether the daughters are for your Lord and the sons for them! 149 Or did We create the angels females, while they were witnesses? 150 Then is it of their lying that they say: 151 Allah has begotten; and most surely they are liars. 152 Has He (then) chosen daughters rather than sons? 153 What is the matter with you? How do you form your judgement? 154 Then will you not be reminded? 155 Or, is there for you a clear warranty 156 Then bring your scripture, if what you say is true. 157 And they have invented a kinship between Him and the jinns, but the jinns know well that they have indeed to appear (before Him) (i.e. they will be brought for accounts). 158 Exalted is Allah above what they describe, 159 except the servants of God, sincere and devoted. 160 Wherefore verily neither ye nor that which ye worship, 161 can lure away from God any 162 except for he who shall roast in Hell. 163 There is not one of us (angels) but has his known place (or position); 164 Lo! we, even we are they who set the ranks, 165 and we glorify God". 166 And indeed, the disbelievers used to say, 167 "If we had a reminder as had the men of old (before the coming of Prophet Muhammad SAW as a Messenger of Allah). 168 then were we God's sincere servants.' 169 Yet they disbelieve therein. Presently they shall come to know. 170 And Our word has already preceded for Our servants, the messengers, 171 That they would certainly be assisted, 172 And that certainly Our armies will be victorious. 173 Hence, turn thou aside for a while from those [who deny the truth,] 174 And watch, for they will (soon) see. 175 Do they really wish to hasten Our punishment? 176 Then when it descendeth unto them face to face, a hapless morn that shall be for those who were warned. 177 Hence, turn thou aside for a while from them, 178 And watch, for they will soon see. 179 Exaltations be to your Lord, the Lord of Might, above that they describe! 180 And peace be on the Messengers! 181 And all praise unto Allah the Lord of the worlds. 182
