The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the Star when it setteth, 1 Your companion did not err, nor did he go astray. 2 And he does not say anything by his own desire. 3 This is naught but a revelation revealed, 4 He has been taught (this Quran) by one mighty in power [Jibrael (Gabriel)]. 5 very strong; he stood poised, 6 While he was in the highest part of the horizon: 7 and then drew near, and came close, 8 until he was as close to him as the distance of two bows, or even less. 9 So did (Allah) convey the inspiration to His Servant- (conveyed) what He (meant) to convey. 10 His (Muhammad's) heart did not lie to him about what his eyes had seen. 11 Will you then dispute with him (Muhammad SAW) about what he saw [during the Mi'raj: (Ascent of the Prophet SAW over the seven heavens)]. 12 And certainly he saw him descend a second time: 13 by the Lote-Tree of the Boundary 14 near unto the garden of promise. 15 When the lote-tree was being enveloped, by whatever around it. 16 His sight did not waver nor was it unduly bold. 17 Verily he saw one of the greater revelations of his Lord. 18 Have ye seen Lat. and 'Uzza, 19 and, another, the third manat? 20 What, have you males, and He females! 21 This indeed is an unjust division! 22 These are nothing but names that you and your forefathers have invented, for which Allah has sent down no authority. They are merely following their conjectures and their carnal desires although guidance has come to them from their Lord. 23 Nay, shall man have (just) anything he hankers after? 24 To Allah belong both the Next World and the present. 25
