The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
WOE TO THOSE who give short measure, 1 Those who when they take the measure from mankind demand it full, 2 Whereas when they give others after measuring or weighing, they give them less! 3 Imagine such men not that they shall be raised up? 4 on a Great Day, 5 the Day when people will stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 Nay! most surely the record of the wicked is in the Sijjin. 7 And what will make you know what the Sijjin is? 8 It is a comprehensively written Book (of records). 9 Woe, on that day, to those who have rejected God's revelations 10 who belied the Day of Recompense! 11 for, none gives the lie to it but such as are wont to transgress against all that is [and are] immersed in sin: 12 When Our Signs are rehearsed to him, he says, "Tales of the ancients!" 13 Nay, but their hearts are corroded by all [the evil] that they were wont to do! 14 No indeed, on that Day they shall be veiled from their Lord. 15 and then, behold, they shall enter the blazing fire 16 whereafter they will be told: “This is what you used to give the lie to.” 17 Nay! Verily, the Record (writing of the deeds) of Al-Abrar (the pious who fear Allah and avoid evil), is (preserved) in 'Illiyyun. 18 And what do you know what the Illiyoon are! 19 It is a comprehensively written Book (of records). 20 To which bear witness those nearest (to Allah, i.e. the angels). 21 Lo! the righteous verily are in delight, 22 upon couches gazing; 23 You will recognise the freshness of serenity on their faces. 24 They will be given pure wine to drink, which is kept preserved, sealed. 25 The sealing of it is (with) musk; and for that let the aspirers aspire. 26 And it is mixed with Tasneem. 27 A spring, from (the waters) whereof drink those Nearest to Allah. 28 Verily those who have sinned were wont at those who had believed to laugh, 29 And winked at one another as they passed by them; 30 And when they returned to their household they returned jesting. 31 and when they saw the believers, they said: “Lo! These are the erring ones”; 32 Whereas they were not sent over them as watchers. 33 Wherefore Today, those who believed at the infidels are laughing, 34 Reclining on couches, looking on. 35 Are not the disbelievers paid for what they used to do? 36
