The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Read: In the name of thy Lord Who createth, 1 Has created man from a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood). 2 Recite, and your Lord is the most Generous - 3 He Who taught (the use of) the pen,- 4 taught man what he did not know. 5 Nay, surely man transgresses; 6 because he thinks himself self-sufficient: 7 Surely to your Lord is the return. 8 What do you think? Have you seen he who forbids 9 a servant (of Allah) when he prays? 10 Have you seen if he is upon guidance 11 or is concerned with God-consciousness? 12 What do you think? Have you seen if he belies and turns away, 13 Is he then unaware that Allah seeth? 14 No! If he does not desist, We will surely drag him by the forelock - 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 So let him now call his gang! 17 We also shall call the infernal guards. 18 No! Do not obey him. But prostrate and draw near [to Allah]. ۩ 19
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
