The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Nay! I swear by this city 1 and you are dwelling in this city -- 2 and I swear by the parent and his offspring: 3 indeed, We created man in trouble. 4 Does he think then that no one has power over him? 5 He says: "I have wasted a great deal of wealth." 6 What, does he think none has seen him? 7 Have We not made for him a pair of eyes?- 8 And a tongue and two lips? 9 And shown him the two highways? 10 Yet he attempteth not the steep, 11 And what shall make thee understand that which the steep is? 12 It is freeing someone's neck from slavery; 13 or, in a day of famine, the feeding of 14 An orphan, of kin, 15 Or to the poor man lying in the dust. 16 and, then besides this, he be one of those who believed, and enjoined upon one another steadfastness and enjoined upon one another compassion. 17 These are the fellows of the righthand. 18 And those who denied Our signs, are the people of the left. 19 On them is fire closed over. 20
God Almighty has spoken the truth.

Notes and Instructions
قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
